A recent addition to Sabinsa's product list is the sodium-free form of the nutritional supplement Glucosamine Sulfate.

Glucosamine Sulfate occurs naturally in the human body and is a building block of glycosaminoglycans (the complex sugars found in connective tissue, mucous secretions and synovial fluid).

Glucosamine Sulfate is used in the treatment of osteoarthritis and plays a role in cartilage protection. Glucosamine sulfate is at least as effective as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) in relieving osteoarthritis symptoms (Reichelt et al., Arzneimittel-Forschung, Vol. 44, 1994).

The replacement of sodium in Glucosamine Sulfate with a potassium salt is beneficial because clinical evidence correlates a high sodium intake with hpertension and edema.
