This recognition gives the in-house facilities the status of being an approved Government R & D center and allows for less restrictions on the importation of state-of-the-art equipment, instrumentation and quality chemicals for R & D purposes. Recognized R & D units may also participate in ventures with national laboratories and can compete for National Awards for achievements in various activities.
